Course description: In this workshop, we will introduce the ASL-VT and give some brief background about the theoretical concept it is based on. We will then look at the test on the signmeasures.com website, explain each of the four ASL-VT tasks and how the test is carried out. In addition, we explain how practitioners can apply on signmeasures.com to use the test and provide some guidance with regard to scoring it. There will be ample time left for questions from workshop participants.


Agenda:

5 minutes: Welcome, introductions, overview

10  minutes: Brief background on ASL-VT and the concept of strength of vocabulary knowledge

45 minutes: Introducing the different ASL-VT tasks

25 minutes: How to sign up to use the ASL-VT

25 minutes: Scoring the test

  1. Explain the concept of strength of vocabulary knowledge 

  2. Explain the four ASL-VT Tasks and testing protocol

  3. State how to use, administer, and score the test

Dr. Wolfgang Mann is a Reader in Special and Inclusive Education at the University of Roehampton, London, United Kingdom. He is the developer of the ASL-VT.
