Course information

Course description: Being a Teacher of the Deaf often leaves you feeling like you are living on the run! If you travel between schools, your car may become your office and your phone as your primary communication tool, leaving you feel scattered and overwhelmed. This training will show you some secret hacks to help you go paperless and impact-more.


Agenda:

5 minutes: Introduction and background

20 minutes: Challenge #1: How to master a busy schedule

30 minutes: Challenge #2: How do I get people to understand my role and my student's needs?

40 minutes: How can I efficiently organize my materials and communicate with others on the IEP team?


Learner outcomes:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify 2 ways to Inservice teachers all year long on the needs and progress of their student/s
  2. Use Google or Outlook calendars to easily send reminder and follow-up emails letting gen ed teachers and parents know updates from your sessions
  3. Use Google or Outlook calendar to keep lesson plans, records, and important info easily organized and easily accessible through a paperless system

Instructor(s)

Stefanie Kessen

Stefanie Kessen, M.Ed, founder of The Online Itinerant, has over 25 years of experience working with students with hearing loss and building relationships with the team that supports those children. Her roles have included Teacher of the Deaf, Community Interpreter, Education Specialist, and Family Advocate. She has worked with DHH students in residential school, self-contained programs, resource rooms, and on the itinerant model as well as served as the Education Specialist for the state of Wisconsin. In 2017, Stefanie founded the Online Itinerant. The Online Itinerant currently supports nearly 1,000 professionals and family members or children who are deaf or hard of hearing, by building a community, providing professional development, and giving access to tools and resources through an online platform.
