Course information

Course description: This presentation will help early childhood educators recognize the differences in genders, identities, cultural backgrounds, and physical abilities in their students. It will review considerations for lesson planning and utilizing DEI&B aligned materials in the classroom, with examples from the presenter's classroom experience.

Agenda:

10 minutes: What is Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging?

20 minutes: How to use DEI&B in lesson plans for ECC classroom

20 minutes: What kind materials to use for DEIB?

10 minutes: Examples of classroom and lesson plans

Emma Mang

Emma is the Coordinator for Outreach and Family Support here at Rochester School for the Deaf. Prior to this position, she taught in the Early Childhood Center at Rochester School for the Deaf with 2 and 3 year old. She graduated from Gallaudet University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and recently graduated from NTID with a Master of Science in Secondary Education.
