Course description: This presentation will provide an overview of the Science of Reading (SoR) and how its principles may or may not apply to deaf and hard of hearing students. It will review the variety of factors that may impact a deaf student in their journey of learning to read, and briefly cover supports and curricula created for deaf students. The presentation will provide attendees with suggestions for strategic, interactive reading instruction and ideas for tweaking SoR-based principles through an ASL-English bilingual lens.
