Course description:
This presentation reviews a qualitative study that examined the types of information parents of Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children seek and receive in online communities. Using textual analysis of posts and comments in a popular Facebook support group, we identified the key topics parents inquire about, the resources and advice they receive, and the ways social media facilitates support. Findings highlight the central role of online networks in meeting parents’ informational and emotional needs, as well as implications for professionals seeking to engage and support families in digital spaces.
