Course information

Course description: Before No Child Left Behind, students with unilateral deafness were 10 times more likely to fail a grade. Unilateral deafness impacts not only a child’s ability to overhear and have access to language, but can have significant social and educational implications as well. In this presentation, attendees will learn about the impact of unilateral deafness, the hearing assistive technology options, special considerations that should be made for students with unilateral deafness, and about appropriate accommodations.

Instructor(s)

Lindsay Cockburn

Dr. Lindsay Cockburn is an Educational Audiologist in California with over 12 years of experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students. She received her Bachelor in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida and her Doctorate of Audiology at University of Florida. Lindsay is passionate about making information about audiology, technology, and education accessible to all. She cares deeply about connection, community, language, and literacy. She started her blog and social media accounts @ListenWithLindsay in 2019 so that parents could learn more about these topics on demand.
