Course info

Course Description: This presentation will cover the subjective and objective elements of a typical hearing evaluation for infants, children, and adults, how audiologists test hearing and the different parts of the ear, what an audiogram tells us, and what information a report might convey.


Agenda:

30 minutes: Introduction of various subjective and objective tests of auditory function

30 minutes: Objective tests, including ABR, OAE, OSSR

30 minutes: Subjective tests of hearing, by age, including BOA, VRA, and CPA

30 minutes: Audiogram interpretation and report reading

30 minutes: Summary

 

Learner Outcomes:

  1. Participants will be able to differentiate subjective and objective tests of auditory function.
  2. Participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of audiogram interpretation.
  3. Participants will be able to state tools and strategies to maximize time with their audiologist at future testing appointments.

Instructor(s)

Lilach Saperstein

Dr. Lilach Saperstein is an audiologist and parent educator working with families of deaf and hard of hearing children to integrate their emotional journey with information and resources. She is the host of the All About Audiology podcast, which offers personal interviews related to audiology, communication, parenting, connection, and advocacy. She lives in Israel where she and her husband are raising three bilingual daughters.
